Pushed further back into your seat with every press of the right-hand pedal as you bang through the gears - 2nd, 3rd, 4th - the needles in front of you climb as the dials sweep from left to right. You downshift for the tight bend - 4th, 3rd, 2nd - and with every tap of the paddle you feel something you’ve never felt before.

Being crafted from a solid piece of billet means that, unlike OEM and other paddles, there’s no plastic, limp, sloppy feeling… no sir (or madam)! These are simply a cut above EVERYTHING else and one of those mods that WILL absolutely enhance every single drive you make both on the road or track.
Designed specifically for F & G Series BMW’s with an M Performance steering wheel they leapfrog everything else out there, even our own previous MMX(R) Gear Shift Paddles! The real difference comes with the all-new magnetic shift technology and the kit is supplied complete with everything you need for easy installation - replacement blades, new control units and screws to suit. And, they’re available in three anodised finishes - red, black or titanium- to complement and perfectly match your chosen aesthetic taste and BMW interior.
Why even upgrade your OE paddles?
Surely the OEM ones are good enough? Or what about those stick-on ones - they’re ok aren’t they? Well for the connoisseur’s among us it’s all about the finer points. Those little details that make ALL the difference. Those tiny percentage improvements that take something from being ‘kinda good’ to ‘bloody fantastic’. Not only do our new magnetic paddles offer all of the advantages listed above, but the bespoke, longer design and size of the blades (compared to OEM) means that no matter what steering angle you’re at your paddles are always within easy reach enabling you to grab the next gear with absolute precision and ease.
This is especially important for track driving when you may want to short shift mid-corner, or downshift mid-turn to balance the car. But the same can be said of spirited road driving too. You just get more control in every scenario, and that’s always a good thing. Right?
What about the existing MMX(R) paddles, then?
Are they now discontinued? Nope. We still manufacture them and they’re still available via all MMX dealers for E, F & G series BMW’s fitted with the M Performance steering wheel. These paddles were the foundation we built on for our new magnetic option. The original paddles are still full replacement blades (not stick on) and are also made from precision machined aluminium billet, too. They share lots of the same benefits as the new magnetic version, however, they don’t come supplied with replacement control units - you need to re-use the OEM control units with them. This is a key difference and while they’ll offer that superior styling upgrade and premium feel the precision and magnetic operation of our new version is just unrivalled. Why aluminium billet?
Because billet is best! It doesn’t just sound cool, but also has a number of benefits including immense rigidity and lightness. In our scenario when being used for paddle blades it means that there’s absolutely zero flex. And because they’re complete replacement blades (as opposed stick-on alternatives) you stiffen up the entire shift mechanism and experience. In fact, if you really want to geek out, the T6 temper designation of T6-6061 means that the aluminium alloy has been given a solution heat treatment followed by quenching, cooling, and ageing.
The design is cut out and contoured to offer an ultra-premium look as well as an ultra-premium feel. The extended length (compared to OEM) makes every gear easier to grab and you can always concentrate on being fully immersed in the drive.
Stick on eBay paddles do the same thing, don’t they?
In a word, no! MMX paddles are a whole different beast. Stick-on paddles don’t offer the extensive list of benefits you’ll get with our full replacement paddle options. Stick on versions are prone to a lot of flex as they simply attach to the OEM paddle blade. This means that you’ll continue to get that sloppy, indirect feeling when you tap the paddle to shift. Essentially all you’re doing by physically sticking paddles on is extending that existing OEM blade and therefore you’ll accentuate the flex, even if the stick on paddles themselves feel stiff prior to application. The magic really comes with an entire replacement paddle - and that’s where the biggest difference in performance and driver engagement will come. That’s exactly why we don’t sell stick on paddles, because we only design and manufacture the very best parts that you can trust.
